Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday fired a broadside at the BJP-led Union government, accusing it of attempting to reduce Tamil Nadu’s political representation under the guise of implementing a women’s quota in the state.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s sharp comments came as the Centre continued to push for the creation of a new Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district, citing the need to implement the 90-110 quota for women in the state assembly.
Stalin, however, dismissed the Centre’s argument, saying that the move was actually aimed at reducing the number of seats allocated to Tamil Nadu in the Lok Sabha, thereby diminishing the state’s political representation in the Centre.

The Chief Minister also announced a slew of new poll promises, including free laptops for students and a new scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers.
